For those tourists who wish to have large walks or go running while visiting Budapest, we recommend hotels near the Margaret Island (Margitsziget), the City Park (Városliget) and the People's Park (Népliget). Margaret Island is located north of the Margaret Bridge, the City Park is located just on the inner side of the outer city ring, while the People's Park is located in the southern part of the city.Margaret island is a runners' paradise, with a running track all around the island. The island is 2,5 Km long, so if you run a full lap, it's about 5,2 Km. There are two hotels on the island, both at the northern end of the island, by the Arpad Bridge. Both 4 star hotels belong to the Danubius Hotel Chain, and they are connected by an underground tunnel. Grand Hotel Margitsziget is a prestigious hotel with turn-of-the century architecture, while Thermal Hotel Margitsziget is a modern SPA hotel.
The City Park is on the Pest side in the 14th district. This is one of the largest parks of Budapest. There is an artificial lake here, along with an ice-skating ring, the Amusement Park and the City Circus. Many locals visit this park during the day and on the weekends for recreation. Hotels in the neighborhood are Hotel Ibis Heroes Square, Hotel Benczur and Hotel Andrassy. The latter is a five star hotel, while the other two are 3 stars. All three are within easy wlaking distance from the park and the famous Heroes' Square.
The Peoples' Park is about 5 Km long, with grass and trees, offering a nice place for recreation and running. You can get to the park by tram #1 from Hotel Stadion and Hotel Veritas. Both are 5 stops away.
