Description: Sopron The city which is one of the most abundant ones in historical sights in whole Hungary is Sopron. It is a small town, wreathed by the Lővér Hills covered in pine forests and vineyards producing excellent wine. It is situated by the Austrian-Hungarian border, 220 kms from Budapest and 60 kms from Vienna. The history of the House It was in the 17th century that Zsigmond Pásztory`s inn, the Golden Hind, became a well-known staging post on this spot, strategically situated along the Vienna to Buda road. Having survived the vicissitudes of history, the coaching inn was eventually destroyed by fire. Continuing in the traditional vein of hospitality, Sopron`s most notable architect designed the present building which was named the Pannonia Hotel in 1893. Its new owners had it rebuilt in 1992 retaining the original classicist style in such a way as to preserve the historic character whilst accommodating a wide range of modern services. These include indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, massage, gym, a dental surgery, ophthalmic optician`s and plastic surgeon`s consultancy as well as supervised on-street parking and garage. Accommodation comprises 14 suites furnished with antiques as well as 5 single and 43 double bedrooms. The open city-gates, central in the Sopron coat of arms, are symbolic of the open doors and warm hospitality with which the Pannonia Med Hotel awaits its guests.
